Look for precision regular single turn pots, and use a vernier knob to drive it. It may end up being a lot cheaper.
And may also be more precise. Since it's based on a continuous resistive surface. Compared to the 'steps' of the typical wire-wound pot.

But here again you're dealing with -and counting on!- the precision of the vernier knob. Ask any old school SEM owner for comment! :eek:

The main point is that if you are seeking a precision result, you should *also* seek precision -and quality- in the part itself. And become aware of the differences in each type component which may apply to your choice and desired result.
