Drums are more about context really. Even If you hit something and it goes thud, boom, smack, ping, bonk, etc. loudly enough to carry, it can be a drum.
Which just makes me think of "Boing Boom Tschak" and circle back to the idea that a drum machine should have at least three vaguely drum-like sounds.![:D]( "grin")
