Setting the knobs depends very much on which module you are talking about and what you want the module to do. Roger's example is good so try to see how he has his knobs set.I attempted my first patch (Life emergency I never got to use my 88)
When making a patch do I set knobs at 50% or 10% or lower?

You have a big system and it can be over whelming so understanding how each module works is very important. Don't try to use it "all at once", just limit yourself to once Oscillator, one Filter, one Envelope Generator, one VCA, a multiples, and a control source (a keyboard with MIDI interface module or just a sequencer) and work with that until you get comfortable.
