I was definitely a bit harsh the other day. With a deadline looming I was tired of fighting with the Rample, tired of the weird documentation, tired of bouncing files around and all that. The device itself is very reliable and it performed its job with absolutely no issue. I wonder how many other people have given up on it because they aren't as stubborn as I am?
Will I take it out again? Well I've decided I'm not selling it and that ought to tell you something. I like the Erica Sample thingy but there are tradeoffs to be had (I'd need two of 'em, for starters, otherwise really change how I play). I think... I will add an Erica Sample rather than replacing the Rample. It should smooth out some of the workflow frustration.
Are you taking advantage of the MIDI functionality? Opens up a lot of doors for control. Here are some Ableton devices if you want to try it out. One is a drum rack and one is a CC rack with all the Rample controls pre-mapped. (Just need to match the MIDI channel to your Rample)
Forgot how fun this thing is with MIDI. Made a little CC rack and a drum rack to sequence the Rample with Push. This frees up the gate inputs and CV inputs to control separately via modular. Sending some basic patterns from Live while using Muxlicer to sequence the sample start position.
Attached the CC and drum racks if anyone wants to try it out.
